I built this a while back but changed some of the sizes. Box was not long enough for a full size handsaw. It is good construction and interesting joinery and was very sturdy. I also placed it on a dolly with wheels to move it about the shop. Made the handles through a metal shop that changed the common hardware to a copper plating look.

Dovetails have the major advantage of being mechanical strong and most of all are glued to the grains and not to end grain, therefore a very strong joint. Pinned rabbets are well crafted and are impressive, but not as strong as dovetails. Had they been finished with staples or nails rather than dowels, they would be called "shoddy."
