Im a retired computer service technician that has been a woodworker almost my whole life. I have built many different things from R/C airplanes to houses.

I have developed a real love of grandfather clocks and hope to build many more.

I have a shop that is in my back yard (24 by 32) that is too small as is probably most of our shops.

I enjoy taking on difficult projects for their learning experience.

Walnut Grandfather Clock

I wanted to build a clock for myself and I had some nice walnut on hand and a Hermle movement. This is a highly modified version of a clock in Fine Woodworking Magazine written by Lonnie Bird. It has...

Four Grandfather Clocks

Christmas a few years ago I built these four Grandfather Clocks forĀ our kids. Needless to say, they were a hit.

Re: Walnut Lowboy

RalphD,

I just noticed your lowboy today while brousing around. Man, that's real nice work. I have usually avoided carving since I don't have a lot of chisels altho I used to carve some rococo on flintlocks I built many years ago.

Great work--it's beautiful.

Re: Book Giveaway: Furniture Restoration - Step-by-Step Tips and Techniques for Professional Results

Furniture restoration is a project that I approach carefully since I have no training. I have had many requests to refinish and restore furniture but alas, due to my lack of training resources I turn most down.

Maybe I'm missing out on something.

Re: Tiger Maple Lancaster County Tall Clock

A great build. The clock turned out very good.

I too have built some copies of Lonnie Bird's clock and have since made modifications to get the look I wanted.

I love the tiger ample.

RalphD and Bricofleur,

Thanks for your gracious comments. It was truly a labor of love and I plan on doing another clock soon.

As to how many hours I spent? I have really no idea but I would guess at about 150 hours since I was doing some operations for the first time. As a result I proceeded slowly and carefully.
