Ted- ALL tablesaws have protective equipment, they are called SAW GUARDS, and they come with EVERY saw purchase. You've have probably seen them at one time or another, but most people take them off because for whatever reason they don't like them. That is their choice. And if it doesn't have one for whatever reason (lost or sold by someone who lost it) you can always find a replacement, they aren't hard to find.

This guy made his own choice and he should live with it.
