Re: Birch Sideboard
Beautiful piece. Big fan of birch and really like the walnut bead with it. Great craftsmanship.

Hi Mike,
posted: 8:28 am on August 5thAssuming that you've had a chance to use it are there any changes/modifications that you might consider? I like the idea of making it portable, i.e. removeable legs.
I'd also like to adapt it for use as a carving bench, uh horse.
Re: Coopering a box lid
Derek, very nicely done follow up to the discussion on Knots. I do have one question though; Why the Wixey to set the tablesaw blade? I know you could have just eyeballed it! Gotta give ye a bit o' leg pullin ya know.

Greg,
posted: 8:44 am on April 7thRegarding your plane/chisel cabinet; might you consider laying the planes on their sides? This way you could almost double the cabinets capacity whilst keeping the planes readily identifiable and easy to get to.
You could then get more planes and appease the plane Gawds that recommend not placing them on their blades! :-)
Re: A Tale of Two Tablesaw Sleds
Thanks bowmkr, always glad to help. Right now I'm thinking thru some new fixtures for the sled; just some simple stuff like mitre attachment, adapt it to do tapered legs. Got any ideas?

All you folks if ye haven't had the opportunity, hop on over the moat and check out Knots, the FWW woodworking forum - lots of great advice and help o'er there.

Re: Future Period Furniture Articles
Hey Mark,
posted: 6:17 am on February 5thHow about an article on making a Victorian birdhouse!?
Just kidding of course, well maybe not.
All kidding aside, how about an article on making a cylinder fall secretary? One of my goals is to make one and I've never seen one grace the pages of Fine Woodworking.
Also, I agree with requests for carving on period furniture. If you do one, please don't forget any details with regard to stock preparation, i.e. do I need to leave additional material for relief carving, etc. Also don't forget to include diagrams of the various components similar to Randall O'Donnels Cyrly Cherry Highboy which began in #117.

So Mike, are ye knuckles draggin on the woodshop floor yet?

I haven't been shopping for a while now but tis the season with the cikd weather and all. Have never had the opportunity to try a #66. I wonder, besides the physical differences, how much different a #66 is to my #45 in terms of the function that they perform? Probably a dumb question.
