BANDSAW BOXES

These small bandsaw boxes are all made of maple. They are cut-off's and small pieces that accumulate in any shop. Once in awhile I break down and go thru the small piece pile and some get tossed into...

First bandsaw box

This was my first bandsaw box. I actually made it in 2000, got a digital camera for xmas in 2003 and took the last four pics with that. Boy, digital sure show's the mistakes. The box was made with...

MAPLE JEWELRY BOX

So I had this piece of maple that had birdseye, flame and spalting. Parts of the board I figured I would have to throw on the burn pile, because it had so much "punk". Instead I slathered on the wood...

MAPLE SWINGING CRADLE

This swinging cradle is made from western maple. It has flame, spalting and bird's eye throughout the piece. The basic design is from a set of plans but I changed the size and shape of the rails and...

SWEET 16 HOPE CHEST

This hope chest measures 40x20x18 (od). Three sides of the  box are made from one piece of Myrtle and the lid and base are of Padauk. I kept the design simple as I wanted the focus to...

Re: Bathroom Vanity

Great job. Love your choice of sink and hardware. Makes the whole thing complete. By the way...there are no mistakes...them's design elements. Hope you keep on having fun. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Router table

Nice...lot of thought went into that setup. I see your "shopdog", like mine, doesn't seem to mind the chips falling on him. Great job, thanks for sharing.

Re: "Pinch Point"

Perfect..

Re: Walnut Box

Nice box...really like the proportions and the handmade hinges are perfect.

Re: cherry half sideboard

Nice...very nice. Your drawers and pulls really make the piece pop. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Hope Chest

Nice job...great contrast and a nice finish. You do realize that every daughter, grand daughter, friend of daughter are now in line for one of your chest's. Happened to me, could happen to you. Great looking chest, I'll bet your daughter loves it.

Re: Jarrah Blanket Box

Nice job. I really like the way you displayed the figure of the wood. Looks real good.

Re: Ideas for Woodworking's Own Reality TV

I dont't think I could bring myself to watch a "woodworking reality" show. I truly miss the NYW. I learned a lot from that show over the years, and I am still willing to learn. The so called reality shows seem to end up being more about the people than the craft. If you want my attention, put on an hour long how to show. Showcase new tools and techniques and good old craftsmanship. Tour shops, mills, factory's and tool manufacturers. I'd watch that show.

Re: Cradle

HAVING MADE SEVERAL CRADLES OUT OF MAPLE MYSELF, I'VE GOT TO SAY YOU DID A GREAT JOB. THE PURPLE HEART ACCENT PIECES ARE JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE THE WHOLE THING POP. VERY NICE. GOOD JOB.

Re: For The Love Of Nature

Outstanding! Looks like Mother Nature made it. Great job. Love the contrast's of form and color.

Re: My first Box

Nice box, dimensions seem very good. Don't worry about that small crack, wood moves, sometimes no matter what ya do. As a famous wood worker said, "there are no mistakes there are only design elements". Keep making the boxes, you seem to have a talent for it. Good job. Thanks for sharing.

Re: My hobby workshop or how much can you squeeze into a 20'x22' space.

I feel your pain about the size. I had 24x20 but lost 7x20 to a laundry/pantry. Unfortunatly I have no room to expand.(heavy sigh). Your layout has given me a couple ideas, up instead of out is the key. Like your shop a lot, good video, and believe me I think your shop is quite clean and organized, mine generally looks like a bomb went off in it. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Compact but comfortable wood shop

Wish I had your wood floors instead of concrete. Great layout and use of space. Glad to see I'm not the only one who has to move equip around as needed. Nice job, thanks for sharing.

Re: Kent Shepherd's Shop

OK now I feel inadequate, I don't have a snow shovel. That is a hell of a shop. Someday, someday....Thanks for sharing.

Re: West TN Stand Alone Shop

Ok I'm jealous.....I'm still in the garage. Nice shop, just the right size. I like all the light you have from the door and windows. Good job.

Re: Plant Stand

Why doesn't "scrap" wood like that ever fall into my hands? Beautiful table, really like the perportions(sp?). What did you use for finish? Nice job.

Re: Retirement Shadow Box

Nice, very nice. Especially like the scroll-saw likeness..great touch. Good job, bet he enjoyed it. Hope he enjoys his retirement.

Re: reclaimed wood end table

Sam Maloff would be proud of you. I'd put it in my house. Right by the front door, so everyone would see it. Real nice job.

Re: Laptop Display Box

That's nice...very nice. Really like the wood you used a lot.
The corner with the "ugly" is my favorite. Great job.

Re: Black Walnut Library Table

There are two things I don't like about this table.
1. I didn't make it.
2. It's not sitting in my front hallway.
I love the design and the wood is amazing. Great job and thanks for sharing.

Re: Jewelry Chest

Very very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Re: My Nightmares and Dreams

Wow! Great design and excellant execution. Your combination of wood species really works. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Hickory Entry Benches

Gary, if you get any more "firewood" like that, send it out here to Wa. I will be happy to "dispose" of it for you.
Real nice job. Beautiful little bench. Mr Nakashima would be proud of you. Thanks for sharing. Mike

Re: Jewelry Case

Allan, all I can say is....very, very cool. Excellant design and beautiful execution. Great job. Mike

Re: Pear Wall Cabinet

Very elegant. I like that you left some of the small "flaws" in the wood exposed. The carving on the back panel was a real nice touch. It's an all round beautiful piece. Great job.

Re: pantry

Great design. The thru tenon's really add to the overall look and I really like the "mouse". A little "whimzy" is always appropriate. A lot of storage in a beautiful piece, doesn't get any better. Nice job. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Re: ASH BENCH

Wow, Charlie, that thing is drop dead gorgeous! I really like the mass of the legs and the size of the dovetails. The butterfly's look just right. Nice job.

Re: QSWO Blanket Chest

You do nice work there Keith. The way the panels are layed out on the front really give the case a great look. Nice design. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Stylish Box

Dennis, very inspiring. Beautiful from every angle. Your eye for detail is amazing. Thanks for sharing. Mike

Re: Pistol Grips

Having made a few sets of pistol grips myself I can honestly say...Nice Job. Until you make a set you don't realize how hard it is to get the contour correct and the fit as nice as you did. The myrtle has a nice warm tone that goes well with the blued metal. They look great, nice work.

Re: cocobolo chair

WOW!! Now that's an expensive rocking chair. Look's great. Nice job.

Re: Fir Bench, Canadian Eh!

You did a great job. I think you've got a future in mortise and tenon work. You are correct in stating that fir is a pain to work with sometimes. Here in the Pacific Northwest fir and pine are common woods, and can yield beautiful stuff if you can work around the warping, bending, spitting, etc. Your bench looks terrific. The only suggestion I would make is to use a contrasting wood for your wedges, brings the eye to those great joints you made. The aluminum brackets are a great idea.

Re: Spice Box

Nice, very nice. I really like the detail around the perimeter of the maple, it's just right. The finish looks great. Making the center drawer with a burl face is a nice touch. Good job.

Re: Framed Hall Table

Love the design. Nice job.

Re: cradle

That is definitly a heirloom. Outstanding design and execution.

Re: Cherry & Spalted Curly Maple Console

Wow! Nice selection of woods. Really look good together. Good job.

Re: Rocking Cradle

Good job. I like your slat design.

Re: Two Drawer Band Saw Box

Great job. Your fit and finish look perfect. Really lets the personality of the wood shine. I like the contrasting woods and your drawer design is just right.Once again, Great job.

Re: Walnut Chest

Very nice. Your fit and finish looks great. Nice choice of wood and the design is top notch. Good job.

Re: Sun Chest

Very nice. Especially like the wood hinges. The lid is exceptional, and the tray is a nice touch. You didn't give dimension's or what kind of finish it has, but the pictures are pretty good. I have to make one for each grand daughter when they turn 16, I'm working on number 7 and only have 12 more to go at last count. I may have to "borrow" a couple of your ideas. Thanks for posting.

Re: The Not So Big Workshop

I feel your pain. I have almost the same situation. I have a few more square feet(about 15), but share the short headspace and basement location. We can build the same stuff "Norm" does, just have to do it differantly. Hang in there, your shop looks great for the amount of space you have.
