IT professional for 30 years - retired in '06. Grew up in a woodworking family (dad and brother both cabinetmakers). Built my shop 4 years ago and that was the start of my new life. Living in south Georgia, I am very lucky because most of my projects begin by finding an appropriate tree, rather than going to the lumber yard. I have found a couple of great custom sawmills that will cut my wood, and then I dry and mill it myself. Cherry is my favorite, although old growth heart pine is hard to beat. I learn something new every day. Have just started making chairs. That is really fun.
