Re: AWFS Tool News: New finish combines the best of oil and water-based products

Ace, Charles Neil gave me a half pint to test and I've been using it on pens. I apply 4-5 coats on the lathe with maybe 2 minutes drying time in between, then sand lightly with 600 grit, then apply 4-5 more coats. Then I buff with the Beall system. This gives a durable, hard finish with a high shine. Not quite a friction finish, but close.

Re: UPDATE: Book Giveaway: Made By Hand by Tom Fidgen

I have heard good things about this book. Of course I'd like to win it, but if not I will probably buy it.

Re: The Mysterious Case of the Exploding Shellac Can

I have a can that's been sitting on my shelf for several years. One time recently when I was in the shop I heard a pop. It was the lid blowing off the can. I put it back on. It happened again.
