Reigniting a dormant love for working wood I am starting to build furniture. Having collected a few tools I am currently using a sturdy table to complete projects. Several initial projects included building jigs and additions to shop tools for added safety and convenience, but quickly transitioned to new requirements from my wife. I wanted to start into the craft, building or up-cycling smaller furniture items, to understand design, construction, and finishing techniques prior to defining my bench requirements. Now seems like the time to build that bench with integrated storage to support the expansion of my scope and capability in the craft.
Carving is a great skill to have as a wood worker. I feel that it is the minor point that distinguishes the artisan from the craftsman. Both of which I hold in high regard.
