Re: The 3 Hour Cabinet

This is what's so great about woodworking -- you can go in so many diverse directions. Jewelry boxes, fine detailed inlays on entry tables, carving, diverse finishes, contrasting woods, rustic furniture and sapling chairs, hand tool techniques, skill saw projects and green bowl turning ... there's no end to the adventures awaiting the woodworker. This is one fine example, John. I try to master, but will never achieve, your 3-hour capability. It was great fun reading about your project. You've given me the incentive. I think I,ll shift gears for a little while and try some rustic projects!!!

Re: UPDATED: Giveaway and Poll: The Most Requested Woodworking Gifts of 2009

Wanted a table saw -- never had one. Did some research. Got good opinions from Knots contributors (thanks guys @ gals). Finally picked out the Bosch 4100-09 reviewed in FW's Winter '09 issue. My wife bought it for me as an early Christmas gift. Love it!!!

Since I already have the world's greatest woman (thanks honey), my only other Christmas request is that the Lord will grant me a long time to please her with the furniture I create using that saw.

Re: girl with the umbrella..

Intreging! What exactly is this technique? Is it actually wood -- or shades of grey paper? I've never seen anythig like this & would really like to satisfy my curiosity.

Re: Escherian segmented vase

I just look at pieces like this one to realize how much I have yet to learn. Thrilling!
