Re: UPDATE: Weekend Woodturning Projects: 25 Simple projects for the home by Mark Baker

Looks like a good book for beginners.

Re: UPDATE: Book Giveaway: Beautiful Boxes: Design and Technique by Doug Stowe

Boxes are such an intriguing subject - such a simple thing, yet people find endless variations. This book looks promising!

Re: UPDATE: The Creative Woodturner by Terry Martin

It's amazing how far turning has progressed since the days when a simple bowl was the high point of the craft.

Re: UPDATE: Best Workshops from the editors of Fine Woodworking

Always good to get workshop ideas, although I still look for the article on how to construct a space expander; Not Enough Space is the biggest shop problem for me!

This book looks to have some great ideas.

Re: Could This Tool Change Everything?

Too short. If they're going to keep with longstanding tradition, it should have been a ten-foot stick. Or pole.

Re: UPDATE: Renaissance Intarsia, edited by Luca Trevisan

Intarsia is such an over-the-top use of wood. The book looks interesting.

Re: UPDATE: Carving in the Round by Andrew Thomas and How to Carve Wood by Richard Butz

I've wanted to learn carving for a while, and have some furniture ideas that would require carving in the round. These look like good resources for me to learn from, so I'll be happy to win them. Just contact me for my address!

There: is that optimistic enough?

Re: UPDATE: The Foundations of Better Woodworking by Jeff Miller

So many beginner's books cover the same territory - a list of tools, basic layout, etc. This one has some interesting, but important, new approaches. Put me on the list to win it. No, better yet, pick my name!

Re: UPDATE: Book Giveaway: Back to Basics: Setting Up Your Workshop from Fox Chapel Publishing

A lot of workshop setup books are so basic in their recommendations that they're pretty well useless.

This one, with the layouts of tools, looks like it could have a lot of very practical advice.

Please put me on the list to win this.

Re: UPDATE: Book Giveaway: Made By Hand by Tom Fidgen

From the reviews, it sounds like a book that includes design concepts, not just how to use the tools - that's great, because so many books leave out this most important skill.

Put me on the list to add this to my library.

Re: Poll: What accessories, jigs, and shop gear are on your holiday wish list?

I really need to address dust collection this year.

Re: Poll: What power tools are on your holiday wish list?

Always something new to want....

Re: Poll: What hand tools are on your holiday wish list?

What I could use more than tools is time in the shop!

Re: UPDATED: Giveaway and Poll: The Most Requested Woodworking Gifts of 2009

That's a pretty amazing-looking bandsaw fence.

Re: Book Giveaway: Furniture Restoration - Step-by-Step Tips and Techniques for Professional Results

Good to see a book on maintaining old work, instead of making new. From the cover, it looks a step up from a lot of the furniture repair books in my county library. Please put my name in the hat.
