Re: New mini-lathe features granite bed and headstock

I keep seeing more and more granite bed; tablesaws, now lathe beds. My question is what happens when you drop a tool on it and chips, or heaven forbied cracks? It may be tough, but in a kitchen you may drop a coffee cup, knife,maybe a pan, but in a shop there are a lot heavier and sharper edged items, hammer, miter gauge, etc.
Just my two-cents worth.
