Re: Routing grooves in curved drawers, part 2
I wonder if Matt Kenney was inadvertantly alluding to his Grandma's secret family "recipie" for home-made apple pie? I can feel another photo caption competition coming on! Thanks for the tip, Matt, and don't you go divulging that recipe regardless of the ribbing you get from captioneers!

Hi barehanded505! First up, congratulations on completing a "beginner's" project, and getting paid for it! It's a scenario many of us dream of. Here is my two cents worth, in the spirit of constructive criticism. Firstly, stylistically there is some discrepancy between the sizes and shapes of the legs of the table and chairs. They are not "congruent", assuming that they are designed to be placed together. Also the chairs' front legs seem to turn backwards, giving a precariously narrow stance , especially if the user scoots forward just a tad. Finally, you have obviously gone to a lot of trouble to create mortise and tenon joinery and finish at 1000 grit, but then included pocket-hole joinery, which seems at odds with your prior work on this piece. Just my opinion, remember, but I would tend to stick with one major joinery choice. You may of course have perfectly good reasons for these electives, and once again I applaud your successful commission, as well as your bravery in submitting it to the critiques of the likes of me! Well done, dude!

A delightful series of video clips, somewhat spoiled for me at least, by the intrusive Google ads on the taskbar below the screen, which defied all my attempts to delete or even hide. I pay extra for the privilege of belonging to Finewoodworking.com, and I am happy to do so, in the knowledge that premium content is worth the money. I object to being further targeted by marketeting which I have no use for, and which , by its very nature, would thoroughly discourage my business. I want to see Mr Lowe unadorned by spurious, irrelevant advertising. Please, can you guys help?

Vale, Maestro Krenov. I was never lucky enough to meet you, but like most of my fellow woodsmiths I didn't need to to be inspired and exhilarated by your masterful works, and your delightful, quirky philosophy. Thank you for the lessons learned, and the passion ignited. Oh, and say G'day to Sam up there.

The guitar is certainly beautiful to behold, Okotok, and I commend you on your acomplishment, but I wouldn't be the first to point out that a guitar is only as lovely as it sounds, so you are clearly not afraid of robust comment from our fellow woodies who also happen to be musicians! Would I be correct in assuming the instrument resembles the Selmer Maccaferi guitars popularised by Django Reinhardt? Well done, regardless!
