My hoppies are my lawn and metal and wood shop. I used to camp a lot but I recently had both knees replaced and am restricted on some of those activities now. In the mean time I am boning up my wood working skills and working on a few pet projects.

Contemplating the Next Great Masterpiece!

Re: West TN Stand Alone Shop

Great looking shop, obviously not in a area where security is a concern. Also I saw no dust collection system in your photos which makes me wonder where all the dust goes, and how often you might have to clean the filter, HA! Unfortunatley I work with metal and wood and have a 12x20 Garage and a 16x20 steel building that are both loaded with tools an work benches but my wife has dominated a good portion of both for storage of Christmas decorations and keepsakes, so I still find myself working mostly on my large patio on good days only. Envious of you open space, Charles in Texas.

Re: UPDATED: Giveaway and Poll: The Most Requested Woodworking Gifts of 2009

Any of the first four items would be a great addition to my shop. I did receive the Dust Devil which was on my wish list, and it works great. Just one caution. The hose fittings are non-standard, and as I discovered neither Rockler, or any other source has a true standard regardless of size stated. I had to jerry-rig the fittings to my Shop-Vac, and the hose to my Shop-Vac do not fit the intake port so had to do some more jerry-rigging. Thank goodnes, Rockler offers a tape specifically for vacuum lines and with enough wraps I was able to make things fit.

Re: Where'd the Woodworkers Go?

Living in Grand Praie, TX, a subburb of Dallas, I have a small garage shop, Spring and Summer are typically when I spend most of my time working in here. I can tollerate the heat better than the cold. I have spent much of my time working with metal and welding, but I am starting to spend more time working with wood and have subscribed to this site and the magazine to learn more and get ideas for new projects. It gets pretty hot here especailly during July and August, but I just crank of the fan and work early in the morning and late in the evenings. between around noon and 4:00, I am in the house cooling off.
