Maple Leaf Table

32" high inlayed table made from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia sourced cherry (seriously!) and New Brunswick sourced figured maple. The tops edges are textured using a 1/4" radius carving tool. The legs...

Walnut Guitar Stand

This walnut guitar stand is more robust than it looks due to the splines at every change in grain direction. The neck rest is carved nouveau (-ish!) style and the shaped tray holds picks and a capo...

Kitchen details

Hi All. I wanted to post some of the features that I included in a recent oceanside kitchen project. I generally avoid kitchens, but will agree to do so for the right customer. My habit is to...

Carved Live Edge

This live edge walnut bar top was embellished with...what else? walnuts and walnut leaves! Done the old fashioned way (my hands and carving tools!) under a flashlight during a 72 power outagecaused...

Nesting Side Tables

These were made as a gift for a client who kept me busy for several months doing finish work in her Nova Scotia (Canada) seaside cottage. A simple three sided design using 8/4 clear pinewith...

The Boat House

This boat house doubles as an outdoor entertaining space on Nova Scotia's (Canada) beautiful South Shore. Many details adorn the red cedar shingled seaside shanty, making it a one of a kind retreat...

My Maloof.....

Plenty of these on here already and here is one more. New Brunswick sourced figured maple went into this 'Maloof' styled rocker. Finish is tung oil and beeswax. Thanks to Charles Brock for the...

Orion Speaker Cabinets

This recent commision was built to Orion specs but with my personal touch to improve the asthetics and to reduce material. Walnut and quarter sawn white oak.

Barefoot Guitar Stool

Locally sourced figured maple went into this Maloof inspired design.

Moon and Stars Table

This bar height table was created using a salvaged maple counter slab. The walnut moons/stars visible on the top are through tenons used to attach the top to the base (see photo #4). The maple...

Re: My Maloof.....

Hi Larry. Thank you for the comment. Honestly, I didn't find the chair that challenging per se. A good grasp of fundamental woodworking skills and techniques are certainly helpful in building a Maloof rocker. What I needed to build the chair was specs; angles and dimensions are critical to Sam's design and those I got from Charles Brock's excellent dvd tutorial series. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to build their own 'Maloof'.

All the best, Ken.
