Re: Behold, the Speed Tenon

In a nutshell, this sort of thing is why I'm skeptical of FWW.

This is a technique for people with more projects than time available to them. That's not me, or any of the hobbyist woodworkers I know. Why would I want to work this fast?

It requires a tablesaw. I hate tablesaws. How many woodworkers have amputatations from handsaws, bowsaws, chisels or bandsaws? I detest having a tool dictate the way I work.

Your reluctance to print this article is a gut check.

Are you really under that much pressure to sell power tools?

Re: Video Tour: Garage Shop Makeover

The articles were very interesting, but the video makes the changes much more clear... particularly on the quick walk around the fixed machines.

Two questions from me -
How do you exchange air with the attic ceiling sealed?

Where did you put your cars?

Someday, I would like to see a collection of basement bodge shops like mine, with sawdust and rusty pipe clamps.

Re: Have you seen Tommy Mac's new woodworking show? Let us know what you think.

It's a tough slog, following an icon.

With a falling viewer share, I believe PBS directs production companies to develop telegenic talent. This may not put the most capable in front of the camera.

I like the fact that in this setting, hand planes are at least mentioned, if not featured as tools.

FWIW - I get more from reading these pages (shooting boards) than any shuck and jive with pretty lighting.

Re: Day 7 Building a Workbench: Finishing Up

Dots! Lots of BVDots!

I cannot comprehend getting so much work done in such a short period of time - let alone setting up the camera work.

Where do you put the vase and Chinese takeout menus?

Re: Bedside Tables

Nicely done. I especially like the middle shelf immediately below the drawer. I'm guessing that will be the most useful space, in that things won't be exposed and knocked off.

There appears to be a lighter strip of maple on the shelves, is that correct?

I would be proud to make something half as well.

Re: Help name Tommy MacDonald's new woodworking show

I'm less inclined to watch a show with focus on the personality of the presenter... particularly one that looks like a professional model. GR or Mario unavailable?
At least those two have some history with FWW.

I think this show will be pitched to the ladies.
(And some of the daddies.)

After taking a few classes, I'll stick with the FWW videos when I need a pointer.

I would be more inclined to watch a show that needs less than $50K in machine tools to emulate their process.
