Re: AWFS Tool News: New finish combines the best of oil and water-based products

Now this is interesting. They always seem to push the envelope trying and developing new finishes.

From a loyal General Finishes fan. Can't wait to get my hands on some! Wonder if you can friction apply?

Re: Serpentine Bow Front Writing Desk

Geez a year has gone by already! So glad you decided to enter the contest, beautiful work, you have my vote! How do you find the time between work and school?

Re: Scoopin' a Chair Seat

Awesome video. I just wish Charles would come out with a DVD on how he builds an entire chair. The way HE builds, not as difficult as it once was.

Re: Wooden hat blocks -- bandsaw skills that you may never need

Gee, would your hat expand and contract with the seasons?

Great find Anatole...what can't be done with wood!

Re: In the Fine Woodworking Mail Bag

Thanks for the reply. I have only practiced a few legs. At the time didn't have a lathe and shaped everything by hand and was lots of work.

Re: In the Fine Woodworking Mail Bag

Awesome, just beautiful work guys, you all should be very proud! How and with what did you shape the cabriolet legs?

Re: Keeping Chest

Well the contest is over, rats I didn't win :)

I would like to give a special thanks to professional woodworker Charles Neil. For all the help you have given to me and many others through your educational woodworking DVD's. You have an amazing gift in your ability to teach me and others like me. You make the complicated uncomplicated.

Thanks to everyone at the Charles Neil Woodworking Forum for the support.

Thanks to Bob Kloes (BigBob on the forum) for the beautiful wide tiger maple boards, the maples do grow nice up in the North.

Thanks to Charles Neil (again) for the kick in the pants to give water based finishes a try, I wouldn't of believed for a moment they were that good (well certain ones hehehehe)

Will get em next time!

Re: Keeping Chest

308…

In all honesty I can only take credit for the last part of your statement. My friend, Bob Kloes of Wisconsin, Give him the credit for the beautiful Tiger Maple. He has many species of U.S. hardwoods on hand.

Just go to his website BobKloes.com

Like I said, this is the first time for me using a highly figured wood, took it slow. I had only one chance to get it right. Or the box would keep getting smaller and smaller.

Re: Bow Front Box

Very Nice! clean crisp lines.

Re: Keeping Chest

Thanks for the support guys, working with highly figured wood like that was a first for me. Still have chip-out nightmares.

Re: 30-Second Spot: Getting Started in Woodworking

How fun...watching Asa struggling with middle age vision problems. Yes Sir, progressive lens eyewear is a wonderful thing. Have been wearing mine for over three weeks, never missed a line, not even on the wood! hehehe

Re: Bump Cuttin'

I never heard of "bump cutting" till I saw this in his dvd. I especially like the idea of "bump cut" for making your own moldings. Very cool Charles, thanks for sharing, again!

Re: Jewelry Box

Very nice...great tiger maple, the figure is awesome (is the front back and sides from wide boards?)

Re: Valentine's Day Gifts

Neil...the cool cat in the hat....great video!!! (I recall this one goes back awhile) Too late for me to spin one...a box of chocolates and card will have to do.

Re: Tablesaw techniques I wouldn't recommend

Geez, the top of the saw looks about 180 grit of rust. Hmmm, sand and cut at the same time :)

Re: A Visit to a Specialty Lumber Mill

Eye candy (if you like wood) This video will get your heart pumping. Love this video, watched it several times on Charles Neil web-site. I like the Inside personal view Charles give you!

Oh and how about those steps!
