Re: Portable mill sawing up a local Cherry tree
The Wood Miser website has a listing of owners who are interested in milling. There is a website, ArboristSite.com that has a section on Milling where the people who have mills congregate and communicate. However, remember that this group tends to be more professional types who will not want to deal with yard trees where someone has a 12" walnut tree next to their home that they think is worth a million dollars. So if you go there, be prepared for some rejection. Many times, Craigslist has solicitations from mill owners as well. Your local woodworking club or guild will also have contacts. Each state also has a state forester and many of them maintain lists of mill owners. One just needs to search for contacts.

I guarantee that the SawStop inventor did not and does not have safety as his primary objective. Follow the money. The next regulation will be for prevent knives from having a sharp edge.

Overall I like the piece design. I'm not sure if the drawer wood looks so nice with the curly on the door. But overall this is a nice design and well executed.

How about a set of basic tools for the high school shops in the country? Without some hands on education for our young people, all they will be constructing is video games and text messages.

The reaction of an alcohol and an acid to form an ester results in water as the by product. I suspect corrosion of the metal can is the culprit. But the formation of brown color is indicative of a polymerization process of the shellac itself. It is worth reporting to the manufacturer although they put a manufacturing date on the can for a reason.
