Re: When Good Glue Goes Bad
All my work is done in the field, site made built-ins, prefinished cabinets and such, and I keep all three glues for specific purposes:
posted: 8:29 am on January 7thThe Titebond III for gluing up dark prefinished moldings, the yellow for joints that will not be seen, and the Elmer's (that dries clear) for light woods or those prefinished light colors.
Re: Play Fine Woodworking's Game: Against the Grain
this is an excellent teaching tool, and hope this and other future safety games will be posted and linked for some time.
posted: 8:52 am on June 29thI run a crew of volunteers. I have 7 skilled finish carpenters as part of the crew, and 30 that run from "I can't read a tape" to "I work on my own home".
This will be a excellent introduction for them to reinforce what we are teaching them hands on. They all have to go through general safety program before they can even be allowed on our projects, and this will help provide something more specific to the trade.
Lets have more - from 'no brainer' level on up!
Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: 500 Tables (Updated with winner)
You mean I spent $3200.00 and a 6 week boot camp to get my CCNA certification and I end up with a router like THIS???

A lot of the work I do is training volunteers workers how to properly use power tools.
posted: 8:20 am on May 7thI like to make 'em think.
Before introducing the tool, and running through our safety list, I tell them there are two main principles that underscore all safety procedures;
1) don't do anything stupid (as we run through the safety list, I tell them what is 'stupid' and why)
2) For safety sake - take home 10 nails every day.
It takes a while for some to really 'get' #2, but when they do, they don't forget it!
Re: Spalted Maple and Walnut Tool Cabinet
This is a really cool tool chest! The only thing that could make it more interesting would be to have your wood tool handles all gnarly looking too. Kind of impractical, but it would be fun eh?
