Padded satin lined box interior - the lid is satin lined, too.
Hidden compartment in bottom of box.

I designed the veneer pattern as vectors and had all of the pieces laser cut.  The veneers used are Birdseye Maple and Bubinga.  They are left unstained and finished with clear polyurethane.  I lined the box, lid and compartment with a padded satin (sewn together from layers of satin, batting and acid free card.)  I added a hidden trap-door compartment to the bottom that is held closed by a pair of magnets.  When it's flipped upside down the compartment pops open if you know just where to push on it.  This is my first 'real' woodworking project and now I can't wait to find more things to build!
