Ranma; and ranma with shoji

These are actually two projects. Both were made as my graduation pieces from the tategu postgraduate course (21 March 2009) at the Toyama International College of Crafts and Art - a technical college in Toyama, Japan, focusing on traditional Japanese carpentry methods. The top ranma is a combination of the asa-no-ha and goma floral kumiko patterns. The timber types used are yellow cedar, Douglas fir, Queensland maple, and Bombay blackwood.

The ranma and shoji at the bottom contain a diamond asa-no-ha pattern (ranma), and the "kozu" pattern on a square asa-no-ha pattern base. These pieces are entirely yellow cedar.

Design or Plan used: My own design
