African Padauk brings an intense garnet color to this Arts and Crafts and Asian blend of styles. I wedged the through tenons with Ebony. Black slate is inset. Overall, I am attempting to blend an African theme in choice of mbao (lumber) with the Asian elements of post-beam construction, lightness, and balance in the arched lines. I finished the table with three coats of hand rubbed Danish oil.

but I will only mention that almost all of the ebony species in use are vulnerable or endangered species.

Major Threat(s): Virtually all large trees of this species have been felled for the ebony wood, except perhaps in the most remote parts of its range.
