I recently finished this, it is a bench that seats two.

Materials: Elm, Red oak, MDF, Bronze, Steel, Rubber.

I joined the edges of the boards, and left the faces ruff sawn.  The inside facing sides of the boards were ebonized to make a darker shadow line.  The spaces are from round red oak spacers with a treaded rod running through in three places.  The base is MDF, I did a false fence miter to get a clean corner, then Primed, painted, and clear coated it.  The top is free from the base.  I used watco on the areas that a finish were applied.

It was a fun piece to make, It took me about 3 days.

false fence miter, assuming hes referring to a sacrificial fence on the table saw and having the large of the sheet/miter on the outside of the blade/opposite from the fence. long miters on wide stock with a reg table saw can be a pain at best.
