This was the second piece of furniture I ever built (about 6 years ago).  It was constructed from Ash, Mahogany, and Cherry scraps from a local door shop and finished with brushed polyurethane.  Being new to woodworking and self taught (mostly from trial & error and techniques that I read about in Fine Woodworking Magazine along w/ other publications) this project took about 9 months to complete.  Excluding glue, biscuits, and finish,  I had about $30 invested in it (even the glass was recycled). There are lights installed in it as well.
