The table is designed to support furntiure pieces for carving. The two hung drawers hold 50 carving tools.
The tables joinery design allows it to be disassembled. The 3 inch maple top can be removed by pulling the the walnut pins in the bridle joints at the top of the legs. The 4 bed bolts on either side allow the frame to also be disassembled.
The carved walnut drawer pulls are attached with hob nails running through them.

The carving table is made from maple, cherry, and walnut.  It is made to be collapsable because the weight of the top makes it difficult to move yet it is very stable. It was designed to be a bench for carving furntiure pieces, however my wife has expressed a desire to use it in her kitchen as an island and to store cutlery in the drawers.
