This chess set is made of walnut and maple, the top is walnut and maple veneer and the drawer fronts are zebrawood veneer.  I turned the pieces on my midi lathe from walnut and maple also.  Inlay on sides is maple.  Finish is shellac sealer and poly topcoat rubbed out to high gloss.  Finish on the pieces is lacquer.  This was my first complete project of my own design and took me about 60 hours to complete.
