This is a improved version of my hand sander.I wanted to improve this sander and came up with this design .The first thing I wanted was a handle to make it more comfortable to use .The second thing was a cheek to keep it perpendicular to the work piece surface. The third thing I addressed is the tension block which did move during use .Here is the result and it worked out well .The sander body is fitted with a handle and the platen is attached with two bolts, washer and wing nuts to the body .The tension block is held in place by a strip of walnut screwed to its side and the top of the strip is locked by two pins in the main body ,this keeps the block from moving and the walnut strip also acts as a bearing surface for the bolt heads and keeps the platen perpendicular to the cheek.
