Hall Table - Floating Top - Cherry/Curly Maple w/Ebony&Shell Inaly
comments (2) January 11th, 2009 in Reader's Gallery
The table is made of cherry and curly maple, w/ a floating top. 1/16" ebony inlay around both cherry panels on top. 1/8" ebony line inlay with diamond tips on two sides of each of the four legs. White m.o.p.,pink mussel, red abalone shell w/ cocobolo stem for flower inlay on top. Curly maple tips on the cherry legs w/ 1/8" ebony inlay above dividing tip from main leg. The floating top is done w/ through cherry tennons w/maple wedges. The top has rounded sides with a 1/32" deep shadow line cut all around top. I used floating & integral tennons for joinery. The finish is 7 coats of tung oil. This is my first nice piece and second table. It was hard to get photos that showed off the great figure of the curly maple.
