Kansas cabinetmaker wins pass to Fine Woodworking Live

When you draw at random, you never know what you're gonna get. A couple of weeks ago I posted a blog about a chance to win a free pass to our upcoming conference, plus the special Saturday night banquet. To be entered to win, all you had to do was post a comment. There were some funny and inspiring posts, but to keep the lawyers happy we chose a winner at random.
We came up trumps with Jan Olewnik, a longtime cabinetmaker from Manhattan, Kansas. It just so happens one of his pieces was featured in the Fine Woodworking's Design Book 6, in 1992.
He's been cranking out cabinetry professionally since 1983, mixing in fine furniture when he can, and I'm sure he will welcome the chance to get out from behind the tablesaw and simply focus on the finer points of the craft.
I can't wait to meet him. Seeing some of his furniture, I think he could probably teach a couple of classes himself!
