Can you carve out some time for woodworking fun at the beginning of August? Can you get yourself to lovely New Paltz, NY? Then just post a comment below. We'll pick one and hand that lucky woodworker an all-access pass to Fine Woodworking Live, worth $530!

Your golden ticket gets you three days at our first-ever live event, packed with classes, seminars, and demos, where you will get to hang out with your favorite FWW authors, like Garrett Hack, Michael Fortune, Steve Latta, Chris Becksvoort, Mike Pekovich, and many more. Plus you get the special Saturday-night banquet, a music and storytelling evening with woodworking twist, with Nick Offerman, star of NBC's Parks & Recreation and recent FWW author.

It all begins Thursday evening, August 2, at the State University of New York in New Paltz's beautiful new student center and continues through noon on Sunday. You'll want to bring your spouse along, as the Hudson Valley is packed with shopping, museums, historic sites, and outdoor beauty.

WaylandM WaylandM writes: I have certainly enjoyed being a member to Fine Woodworking on line for the past few month's. As a result of a degenerative muscle disease, I have started using hand tools to keep the strength in my hands from going south. It seems to help. It is because of the video series from ones like Garret Hack, Timothy Rousseau, and others that use hand tools that I don't think I can go back to power tools, besides the fact I can't hold on to them because of the vibration and power. So, that being said, I really appreciate the work that goes into each video series and would really like to meet those who give the classes. It would be an honor to see them live. Keep up the "Fine" work!
One day I will post the harps and violin that I have been working on!

wworker2 wworker2 writes: The smell of fresh Cherry, Maple and Pine sawdust, matched with the experience of a master craftsman sharing his insight on making my next project easier and more beautiful, is an opportunity that I don't want to miss. It is not about the guy who has the most tools, it is about the person who understands wood and transforms ideas into furniture for the family. It is also being surrounded by other craftsmen who understand the joys of late evening final sandings and the gently applied coats of varnish. Through exibitions like this one, everyone wins. To those who teach and to those who learn, may everyone have memorable experience. I hope that "Fine Woodworking" make this event an annual congress of wood workers in America.

Hopefully they will be required, by law, on all new planes.
