Arts and Crafts Side Table
comments (1) May 23rd, 2012 in blogs
You can call this versatile piece a side table, an end table, a nightstand or a plant stand. Or, if you want to be more to the point, you can just call it handsome furniture.
Kelly Dunton's round-top table was inspired by traditional Arts & Crafts designs from Gustav Stickley and made of white oak. Dunton used pegged through tenons to join the stretchers to the legs. The result is good-looking, and fun to build.
The download includes a dimensioned exploded drawing of the piece, along with Dunton's detailed article on the construction, including a simple circle-cutting jig for the bandsaw and a jig for cutting crisp mortises on the drill press.
Plus, check out a video on how to fume oak with ammonia for a tradtional Arts & Crafts finish.
