Every facet is an individual piece of wood.  I enjoy these exercises in precision -- each edge, shape, angle, and size must be as close to perfect as I can get it. It allows me to transform solid geometry into solid shapes.  The finishes are polyurethane, teak oil and/or wax.  So far I have used oak, dark and light mahogany, maple, lacewood, and purple heart.
