Produced by: John W. Nixon - http://www.EagleLakeWoodworking.com
John W. Nixon from Eagle Lake Woodworking details all aspects of building an Arts and Crafts style round table modeled after one of Gustav Stickley's designs - No. 603 (round tabouret). This little round table works great in almost any decor.
The construction of the table looks deceptively simple, but it has it's fair share of challenges. You have to be accurate and precise in the execution of the joinery to make the through tenons and interlocking cross members fit perfect.
This is a multi-part video series that shows how two of these tables are made side by side - each with very different materials and techniques. A comparison between how to build an authentic version of this table versus an "imposter" table is shown. The outcome of both tables is meant to be nearly identical, but in the process of creating the imposter, alternate techniques are shown to get the authentic look using different techniques and materials.

I'll be using red oak that is abundant an inexpensive locally. Now that I have watched your videos, I may even try a red oak-white oak veneer version.
Beauty of this project is challenging joinery, not much material, and a classy little "gift" project.
I'm gearing up to build the version of the table by Kelly J. Dunton, from Fine Woodworking #186. Also a similar design, by Gary Rogowski is available on the FWW web site.

Hope to see more project videos from you.
