Made from the Essential Workbench design available from FineWoodWorking.  Utilizes mortise & tenon and dovetail joinery.  Benchtop, apron and vises made from hickory; the different shades are natural variations in the hickory.  The base is from Florida oak. Front vise is the large Veritas, and the end vise is the Veritas twin screw model. Finish is boiled linseed oil and turpentine mix. The lighter piece on the front apron is purely decorative.

Personally I'm very pleased with the design as the plans call out and like the 28" depth for the bench. It seems to be the right depth for my arms and work. I estimate that the final bench weighs ~280 lbs.

I have purchased the same plans and have started to accumulate the wood. I am doing the base out of Tiger Maple and the top out of Hard Maple. Did you follow the plans exactly or did you make modifications? I am thinking of making it only 24" deep instead of the 28" called out in the plans. What did your bench end up weighing?
