Many influences surface in my work. Perhaps none is more clear than that of John Fox, a furniture maker in Acton, Massachusetts. I have been particularly attracted to his cabinets that have strong Asian elements—reverse taper legs, overhanging and slightly elevated tops, and asymmetrical grids supporting the shoji paper. This cabinet is 31" wide and 55" tall. The carcass is American black cherry, the drawer fronts are Australian lace wood, and the figured door panels are spalted Oregon big leaf maple (figured panels purchased on Ebay).
