Fun with Veneers

I've been working in solid wood for thirty years or so, and only recently decided to take up veneering. This is my second project, and I still have a lot to learn about the craft.
Is this marquetry? I don't know.
This used to be a funky old Duncen Phyfe style table that wasn't even worth refinishing. Now I'm thinking it might be the most decorative object I've ever made.
There was no attempt to make this look "as if" it were made from solid wood. Rather, it's about creating an attractive shape and then decorating the surfaces with the finest substance know to man, which is of course natural wood.
The woods are; pommele sapele, madrone burl, walnut burl, and satinwood (which, I understand, could be any of about thirty different species).
