One is cherry and the other walnut.
Inside are three small drawers and the depth is sufficient to store a notepad or laptop
Front view shows the turnings for the gallery, turned legs and feet as well as the leather top.
Drawers on both sides with one file drawer on left
The back is finished so the desk may be placed anywhere in the room and not necessarily require wall space.

My wife wanted a small but functional desk for our downsized retirement home. Having seen an antique Davenport or Captain's Desk she asked me to design one that would be functional for a home office. The desk was widened to accomadate a standard chair. The drawers were graduated in size allowing the bottom drawer on left  side to hold file folders. Footprint about 25x25 inches and standard desk height.
