The Missing Shop Manual:
Bench Planes

Fox Chapel Publishing, 2010, 2011.
$9.95, $12.95, or $19.95 each; between 47-205 pgs each

Each book in The Missing Shop Manual series provides information so you can get the most out of the specific machines/tools covered. The “manuals” include set-up and safety advice and also include tips and techniques so you can maximize your machines’ performance. For example, the Router manual includes chapters on edge forming, grooving, joinery, and freehand routing. The books are filled with drawings and photos and come bound with durable covers so they can be used often in the shop. The Bench Planes manual even includes a 55-minute DVD featuring author Ernie Conover.

Lucky Ed2878 is the winner. His comment was chosen at random.

Paldesy11 Paldesy11 writes: Books look great! I am just starting out so I am currently soaking up as much info as I can. In fact in about a week I am buying a couple of new tools(bench plane, router and drill) as at the moment I really only have a saw and a mortise chisel. So any books on using these tools would be great.

I have always been involved building wood furniture and products from my own design, with many ideas are inspired from articles and plans from your magazine and books.
This would be an oportune time to read and improve my skills through your missing book series. I have a large collection of books and I would love to add this set to my collection

I have 3 kids under 3 years old...and the time to spend in the shop can be tough to having reading material close at hand has been the best thing to keep my eneregy and inspiration alive. It's also created a HUGE wishlist of pieces I look forward to building in the future.

I hope I win!
