Painful Box

This is a box that has been 4 years in the making. The wood is claro walnut, curly maple, lacewood, and rosewood. It was a pain to finish as the idea came from my ex wife who wanted me to make it for her. She then turned around and divorced me. The wood was bought on trips to different places around the country with her. She picked all the woods and colors...it really was her creation. It is a truly beautiful piece, but what to do with it is beyond me. Part of me wants to give it to her as it was made for her, part of me wants to sell it if I can, part of me just wants it gone as there is pain there when I look at it, and part of me wants to burn it at times.
Some of our best stuff is made in pain I guess!
The original design was similar to something I saw from the school of Red Woods in california, although I changed the woods and dimensions. Not sure who's it was to start with.

Lovely box! It looks like many hours of labor went into its completion. Love the woods chosen and their usage.
