I think I am one of the few people who will tap threads into wood directly.  So far I have had no problems.  The 8mm machine hex bolts lock the blade in place nicely.

I wanted a honing guide for the blade in my new kanna (Japanese plane) but couldn't find one that would accommodate the 60mm blade, so this is what I came up with.  The bottom wheel was just a quick spin on the lathe.

I have a few more pictures online that you can look at here: https://picasaweb.google.com/107811782926296586819/MoreOfGigiSDesk. You'll have to dig through some other photo's, but they're in there. THIS WOULD MAKE WEARING MINUTE, ALSO YOUR WOULD HAVE LESS MOVEMENT AND MAKE YOUR TOOL MORE DEPENDABLE. WOULD SURE LIKE TO HAVE PLANS/ DRAWINGS. WOULD MAKE MY OWN. AM A CERTIFIED MACHINESTS AND WOODSMITH/ LEATHER SMITH. THE WHEEL COULD POSE SOME TROUBLE. FIXING FOR IT'S ROTATING IS NOTHING.
