Rikon Rolls Out New Contractor Saw

Rikon Power Tools is introducing a new 10-in. left-tilt contractor saw, to be unveiled at this year’s AWFS (Association of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers) Fair in Las Vegas (July 20-23).

The saw (model 10-201) has a 1.5-hp motor (factory-wired for 120v but can be converted to 240v) with a 30-in. rip capacity to the right of the blade. Maximum depth of cut is 3 3/8 in. (2 1/4 in. with the blade tilted 45 degrees).
It also looks like Rikon is following other contractor saw makers by enclosing the motor and pulley assembly, which helps contain dust and makes collection more efficient.

Model 10-201 will sell for around $900. You can get more information on Rikon's website, or you can come to Vegas for the AWFS Fair to check it out in person, as some FWW editors will. Rikon will be in booth #4633.

michael2160 writes: I only have one Rikon tool and it is their small band saw, which does a good job at what it was designed for.

I am curious as to why any manufacturer would announce a new saw model with the uncertainty of the Consumer Safety Product Commission. (I don't think calling it a "contractor" saw removes it from the "consumer" purview of the commission.)

Does this new table saw have the same quality and preciseness as my early band saw.

Also, is there a reason (other than poor sales) why Rikon discontinued the two earlier pricier model Table Saws?

Woodsmithy writes: According to the Rikon literature, it is convertible from 110/120 to 240 volt single phase. I'm sure the 24v was just a typo?
