Vote for the best woodworker under 30
comments (2) April 5th, 2011 in blogs
I used to be worried about the next generation of woodworkers, but maybe I shouldn't be. A new competition, Regeneration, has attracted an amazing 150 woodworkers under 30 years old. We've posted their entries on Facebook, and your vote will determine "The People's Choice" and earn that young craftsman a valuable set of tools. This is among the best stuff I've seen in years. Young, creative, passionate, and talented--you've got to see this stuff for yourself.
You have until April 14 to vote. The most “liked” image will gain automatic entry to the exhibition and earn its maker a Jet 16" bandsaw, a Model 450 compact router from Porter Cable, a package of clamps from IRWIN Tools, a Premier Fusion saw blade from Freud, and a DuoSharp® bench stone from DMT.
To see the gallery of entries and vote, go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Center-for-Furniture-Craftsmanship/#!/pages/Center-for-Furniture-Craftsmanship/181880515174575 and click on “Vote for Entries” on the left side of the page. Each visitor can like up to 20 images. There are 587 images to skim through, and they are posted in the order they were received, so try to hang in there until the end so the early responders don't get all the votes!
In addition to the public selection, a panel of four distinguished jurors, including FWW's own Anissa Kapsales, is currently at work to select 20 other pieces for the show, which will open at the Messler Gallery of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine, in September. Fine Woodworking is a proud sponsor of the show, as are many tool manufacturers, and we'll be featuring many of the winning pieces in the magazine and here on the website.
