The humble vacuum press opens up a whole host of new furniture possibilities to those willing to experiment.

My first foray into the world of vacuum pressing came on the heels of a desire to build the absolute best humidor I could muster. For that, I settled on a solid mahogany box with rosewood veneer on the exterior. While I could have handled the veneer using clamps and a couple of pieces of MDF, I decided to experiment, and instead, turned to a little vacuum press nestled in the rear corner of our shop here at Fine Woodworking. The reward? Easily applied, perfectly flat veneer with nary a bubble to be seen.

In this free chapter download from Darryl Keil's Vacuum Pressing Made Simple, you'll learn about the basic method behind pulling a vacuum that performs flawlessly. Vacuum pressing opens up an entire new world of artistry to the intrepid woodworker and quite frankly, I'll never tackle another veneer job without "the bag!"

Good point about the iPad... I'll forward your suggestion to our product team that you'd like this available as an eBook/video download as well.

For reference, many of our videos are now available so online members can view them on the iPad:

You can also find our complete collection of eBooks here:

This includes our popular SketchUp Guide for Woodworkers that's ONLY available as an eBook:

Thanks for the feedback, Gina,
