Free Chapter Download: Vacuum Press Basics

My first foray into the world of vacuum pressing came on the heels of a desire to build the absolute best humidor I could muster. For that, I settled on a solid mahogany box with rosewood veneer on the exterior. While I could have handled the veneer using clamps and a couple of pieces of MDF, I decided to experiment, and instead, turned to a little vacuum press nestled in the rear corner of our shop here at Fine Woodworking. The reward? Easily applied, perfectly flat veneer with nary a bubble to be seen.
In this free chapter download from Darryl Keil's Vacuum Pressing Made Simple, you'll learn about the basic method behind pulling a vacuum that performs flawlessly. Vacuum pressing opens up an entire new world of artistry to the intrepid woodworker and quite frankly, I'll never tackle another veneer job without "the bag!"
