The main entrance from outside is the single door on the right. The double doors lead into my garage for loading large items.
The view from the entrance.
This is my pride and joy, my bench. I built it from plans for Frank Klauzs bench in a Tuanton book. There was one measurement that was wrong in the book and it took me three days to figure out what it was.
This wood rack is made from threaded rod which is attached to the joists above. It holds just enough and keeps floor space for tools and working.
I built this clamp rack from plans in Fine Woodworking. I still have room to expand as I add more.

Shop Specs

  • Location: Columbus, Ohio, USA
  • Size: 335sq. ft.
  • Type: Detached
  • Focus: Furniture
  • Heating/Cooling: I have Radiant Heaters on the ceiling, but no cooling.

A few years ago I moved my workshop from the basement to an extension on the back of my detached garage. It's been wonderful to work in, complete with heat, plenty of light and no dust in the house! My shop is about 24 feet by 14 feet. It's a work in progress, I build shelves and things as I need them and I'm always rearranging the tools to find the perfect layout. Other than my bench and table saw, the tools are pushed to the outside walls until I need them.
