I turned and carved this set of chessmen from solid 8/4 cherry. I based the design on Mike Darlow's version of the St. Georges chessmen design, but made a lot of changes from the original. I added lead shot to the bases to provide the proper "heft" and applied SuperSuede to the bottoms. The kings are 6" tall. The finish is Waterlox Original. Photo by Jim Reedy
