Roughed out, a little more work, then lettering.

4.25x7.5x0.7 inch plaque carved from madrone as a Christmas gift. Recipient specified size and Dutch expressionn of welcome. Oil finish.  Mounted adjacent to entry door, above doorbell.

Joe Scannell Joe Scannell writes: The carving was done with gouges, the background was leveled using a L-N bead tool in router plane mode. The lettering was done last, using mostly a knife (I think it's called a sloyd knife), with a sort of modified chip carving technique.
