Top view of bowl.

This Australian Gimlet burl centerpiece was a concept that included the fabrication of African Blackwood feet.  The challenge for this object was to accomplish a unified 3/16" wall thickness, while utilizing three blackwood feet.  Furthermore, in order to achieve an adequate bond, the top radius curve of the blackwood had to exactly match the (round) bowl  bottom.

The gimlet is like turning a cinderblock, very tough stuff, and you need to re-sharpen tools frequently. It truly is fabulous stuff though. Glad you enjoyed my pics.
