Aron Kodesh, Front Angle

Aron Kodesh or Torah Ark is a cabinet used to house a torah at a synagogue, Jewish house of worship.  This Aron is made from African Walnut with a water based stain.  Sliding doors and handmade glass knobs, no additional hardware.  Dovetail joinery.   It includes an Eternal Light or Ner Tamid above the cabinet, which is a traditional addition to this type of cabinet.  This light was made by creating a mould in which the glass is shaped to the wood frame.

Vlad_S Vlad_S writes: Very nice work. The style evokes the chip carving found in much of Eastern Europe around the Poland-Ukraine border, where a large percentage of the US and Canadian Jewish population hails from. A fitting touch!
