Black Walnut Coffee Table

This is a black walnut coffee table I made for my girlfriend. I used lumber from Dan Hudock http://www.hudockshardwoods.com/ who is local to Phila area to make this. The top is book matched slabs of 5/4 stock with the sapwood left in center with butterfly joints. The butterflies are more for looks than functional I think, but it all seems to work. All the rest of piece was from same tree as to match. Never really learned how to veneer so just use the thick stuff. i cut the 3" x 3" legs into three sections to get that curved runner to go all the way through. The top is attached via slotted pieces of walnut as to allow that monster top to move without killing the frame. Its a great piece in my living room.
