Design Within Reach’s Austin Studio Announces the Modern + Design + Function Competition Winners for 2010

Henry Levine’s MP Side Table received the top honor, ‘Best in Show’ at this year’s Design Within Reach: Modern+Design+Function Competition.  The table’s base was made from cedar lumber, which was salvaged from a razed home. The top is made from PaperStone, a composite material made from 100% recycled office paper and a resin derived from the shells of cashew nuts.

M+D+F 2010 is an annual juried exhibition designed to uncover and promote innovative modern original designs by emerging designers in Texas. Organized by the Design Within Reach Austin studio and juried by respected, creative professionals in the design, architecture, and art worlds, M+D+F provides and opportunity for peer, public, and professional recognition for up-and-coming designers and firms. From a pool of nearly 100 submissions, 12 designs were selected and showcased in the Austin Studio on May 15th, 2010. Among these finalist, 4 designers were honored as winners in 4 different categories which included 'Best in Show', 'Best Furniture', 'Greenest Design', and 'Best Lighting'.
