My father passed away in March. He was a WWII vet serving as a machinist mate on the USS Hamilton Mine Sweeper in the south pacific. I built this keep sake chest and flag case to house his WWII memorabilia and his flag. My dad was a machinist and I inherited many of his tools. Unhappy with the commercially available hardware options, I used his tools to construct the lid support and handle of brass. I complete the piece on father’s day, seems fitting.
